Weekend Round Up | West win in FA Cup whilst Barrhill go top of GMWFL

Road to Wembley: Next Stop Hartlepool

West Didsbury & Chorlton’s FA Cup fairy tale continued as they reached the first round proper thanks to a 6-3 win over MSB Woolton. Goals from Amy Friel and Shauna Edmondson gave West a 2-0 half time lead before Edmondson made it 3-0 just after the break. Woolton pulled it back to 3-2 before the home side steamed further ahead thanks to goasl from Elizabeth Livesey (2) and Jami Hodges with the visitors pulling one back in stoppage time.

The reward for the NWWRFL Division One South side is an away tie to North East Regional Premier Division side Hartlepool United in the next round. To be played Sunday 12th November, 2pm KO.

NWWRFL – Big wins for Curzon Ashton and FC United keep pressure on Feds

FC United made it back-to-back 13-0 wins with a rout over Northwich Vixens. Six goals from Fran Sullivan, a hat-trick from Yvette Loukes and a pair for braces for Rebecca Foster and Kirsty Chambers maintained the Rebels 100% start to the season and has seen them score an incredible 43 goals in three games.

Despite controversially having four points deducted in the week, Curzon Ashton made it four wins from four with an impressive 7-2 win over Altrincham.

Chloe Wild opened the scoring for Curzon sprinting past her marker before rounding the goalkeeper. Wild then supplied the second goal before Keeley Goodwin made it 3-0 to Curzon. Goodwin added the fourth before Altrincham pulled a goal back. Goodwin then provided the cross for the 5th before completing her hat-trick for the sixth with Mya Holmes converting from the penalty spot for the 7th.

Elsewhere Liverpool Marshall Feds Reserves are top despite being held to a 2-2 draw away to Crewe Alexandra Development. Stockport County Blues thrashed City of Liverpool 7-1.

In the Premier Division Manchester Stingers weren’t in action.

GMWFL Division Two round up – Barrhill go five points clear

The top of the table clash between Sale and Barrhill produced a nine goal thriller as the Salford side recorded an impressive 6-3 win. Sarah Penny collected a four goal haul whilst Becky McWalter scored her second free kick in a week with Jessica Lawson adding the other. Penny now has 18 goals in five games for Barrhill.

Tameside United missed the chance to pull clear of Sale Ladies, who dropped to fourth, as they were held 3-3 away to Rochdale.  Moston Brook moved above Sale into 3rd as they beat Swinton 2-1 at home.

Rounding off Division Two, Cadishead Rhinos continued their good start to the season as they won 4-2 away to Curzon Ashton Reserves whilst Flixton Juniors routed Bury Amateurs 5-0.

Cheshire Women’s League – Wins for Wythenshawe Ams and Manchester Rovers

Wythenshawe Amateurs made it back-to-back wins with a good 2-1 win away to Glossop North End Juniors thanks to goals from Charlotte Robinson and Sophie Whitby. The victory lifted the Ams to fourth who’ve won both of their games since moving to their new home.

In Division Three, there was another win for Manchester Rovers as they defeated Malpas 3-0 to lift themselves to second in the table.
