GMWFL | Barr Hill close gap to Salford City as West beat Swinton to become new leaders

Division One

A Philippa Wakefield brace with goals from Monique Fennell,  Ann-Kathrin Crockett and Molly Wood saw Barr Hill return to winning ways as they defeated Bolton Lads & Girls 5-1 to move them level on points with leaders Salford City in second place. Kim Holt added a consolation for Bolton L&G, her first goal for the club.

Missing the chance to close the gap to the top of the league were Rochdale who were beaten 3-2 away to Langho. The result was Langho’s second win of the season and they sit in 5th just four points behind Rochdale in 3rd but with three games in hand.

Salford City’s game with Urmston Meadowside was postponed after Urmston Meadowside were unable to raise a team.

Division Two

There are new leaders at the top of Division Two after West Didsbury & Chorlton Development ran out 6-2 winners away to the previous leaders Swinton.  The goals for West came courtesy of a Anna Carson-Parker hat-trick, a Leigh McFadyen brace with Rachael Myers claiming the other.  Anna Broadie netted a brace for the home side in response for Swinton.

Boltonian Ladies registered a huge win as they defeated Flixton 12-2 at The Lee Pavilion. Sue Doak earned herself a foal goal haul whilst Stacey Saunders, Mel Cordwell and Elbieta Putek added braces with Sophie Livesey, Antonia Kelly and captain Evie Sheppard also scored.

Heyside remain in fourth but have joined Swinton and Tameside United on 13 points after a thrilling 7-5 win over AFC Oldham.
