Argyle Sports Cup

Merseyrail are through to the semi-finals of the Argyle Sports Cup thanks to a 1-0 win over Tranmere Rovers.  The goal came through Shelley James who will be joined in the semi-finals by Stockport County who were awarded a walkover after their game against Sir Tom Finney was called off.  FC United v Penrith was postponed due to inclement weather preventing the visitors from travelling whilst West Didsbury & Chorlton v Chester fell victim to a waterlogged pitch.

Argyle Sports Plate

In the only Plate tie to survive the weather saw Workington Reds defeat Leigh RMI 4-1 at home.  Two Reds players earned themselves a brace thanks to Hayley Bracken and Chloe Henderson.  It’s an impressive run for Workington who were defeated in the first round to Burscough last season.

Premier Division

No games survived the weather.

Division One North

Cammell Laird earned three points with a strong 5-1 victory over Burscough Dynamo.  Helen Cann scored a brace along with goals from Nadine Sword, Hannah Perry and Emma Doherty-Jones.

Division One South

The only thing of note in Division One South was Warrington Wolverines game at home to City of Liverpool was postponed as once again City of Liverpool were unable to field a team having just seven available players. It’s the second time in recent weeks having previously failed to fulfil against West Didsbury & Chorlton.

All other games in Division One were postponed due to the weather.
