WNL NEWS | Burnley, Bolton Wanderers & Stockport County Strengthen squads

Burnley have wasted no time in strengthening following back-to-back title wins and ahead of their first season in WNL Premier Division.  Burnley have strengthened as striker Olivia Wilson arrives from Everton , with Sarah Agger, Kenedy Owen and Kerry Hope arriving from Blackburn Rovers, Manchester United Development and Huddersfield Town Ladies respectively.

In addition, former WSL player Nic Worthington arrives from Bolton Wanderers along with team mate Kelly Halligan.  Furthermore the Clarest have confirmed the arrival of defender Olivia Greenhalgh from FC United, Levi Rathburn and Cara Bickett.

Chorley

Bolton Wanderers have captured the signature of midfielder Rebecca Foster who joins from NWWRFL Premier Division side Rebecca Foster. Foster had spent two years with the Rebels having previously won the GMWFL league with Urmston Meadowside.

They also announced the signings of full back Hannah Brindle, who returns to the UK from playing in America and Abbie Jayne Moore from West Brom.

 

Stockport County have moved quickly to secure their squad ahead of their return to the Women’s National League Division One South.

The first squad movement was the announcement of goalkeeper Chloe Williams with the player returning to the game after a spell out.  Hannah Wilson and Holly Stokes retention’s were also quickly announced.  Midfielder Sophie John, along with defenders Masa Butler and Abi Hayes were also among the squad of players.

Goalkeeper Niamh Attfield joins the first team having competed in the Hatters Development Squad last season.  Forward Hanifa Douglas, recipient of the Managers player of the season award, was also confirmed as retained for the new season. Exciting attacking player Shelby Wolstencroft also signs on after her 2018/19 season was hampered by injury.

Not only were they quick to announce their retention’s; following the men’s teams return to the National League a number of their players took part in the new kit unveiling video. Wilson was joined by Chloe Mapp and Jodie Hancock.
