GMWFL Division One
West Didsbury & Chorlton Development kick started life in GMWFL Division One with a 5-0 win over Baguely Athletic. The goals came courtesy of Anna Carson-Parker, Ali Johnson, Lyndsey Turner, Leanne Higham and Lucie Bowden. Baguley renamed themselves from Didsbury Reserves over the previous weeks and gave a good account of themselves despite having only trained once together.
In the meeting of two of the divisions new sides Bolton Wanderers Development were 4-2 winners over Ashton United; the latter of whom took part in their first ever competitive game. Langho hosted newly promoted Tameside United and had to come from a goal down in the first half to earn a hard fought 2-1 win.
Rochdale and Sale played out a thriller in which the South Manchester side ran out 5-3 winners at Wardle Academy. The game was 0-0 at half time but burst into life in the second half with 8 goals split between the teams. Heyside defeated Urmston Meadowside 2-1 thanks to goals from Sarah (???) and Lauren Patterson.
Mossley were the only side not in action in Division One at the weekend as the odd team out.
GMWFL Division Two
There was an 11 goal thriller at Swinton where the home side recorded a breath taking 6-5 win at home to AFC Lionesses. Emma Cann and Vicky (???) were both in fine form in front of goal for the Lions as they each bagged a hat-trick.
Mancunian Unity registered a fine win in their first ever competitive game as they routed Crompton away, winning 7-2. Walshaw Sports matched them in the goals department as they registered a 7-1 win away to Stockport Lionessses. Boltonians fixture with Flixton was cancelled after the Trafford based side were unable to field a team. AFC Oldham and Bolton Lads & Girls were not in action this weekend.
